Sanne Both
Director Applications
Dr. Sanne Both first studied Medical Biology, after which she worked for a few years for the Tissue engineering company called IsoTis. Next, she returned to academia and in 2008 obtained her PhD degree at the University of Twente on a thesis entitled: Embryonic stem cells in Bone Tissue Engineering.
Sanne then started working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Radboud University in the group of prof. John Jansen. Here she continued her work on tissue engineering in combination with dental implants. Thereafter, Prof. Marcel Karperien asked her to return to the University of Twente in 2013 to join the Developmental Bioengineering group and work on a hydrogel for cartilage regeneration. Next to her work on the hydrogel she was also supervising PhD and master students and working as teacher for Biomedical Technology curriculum. In 2014 Hy2Care was founded and Sanne is one of the co-founders. From 2019 she took up the role of Director Applications and is responsible for, among other things, the set-up of the clinical trials.
Personal quote:
“Millions of people suffer from Osteoarthritis (OA), just like me. To prevent other young people from developing OA I became a Scientist with a keen interest in tissue generation. My personal goal is giving patients a treatment option to prevent OA or reduce the damages it causes, allowing movement without pain.”
